Hi kprather7
Welcome to the HVAC Group!
You will receive your books/course material in the mail very soon, however while waiting for your books you can read much air conditioning material under Instructor Blogs and Mr. Xjxrats stuff where you will find it to be of interest and learning to you.
This course is great to learn the Heating and Air Conditioning trade and is designed for the student to learn at their own pace. When you receive your material I strongly encourage you to read everything carefully in each chapter/lesson. If there is is anything that you do not understand completely, then re-read that particular part. If you still do not understand it completely, then ask me, your instructor and I will be happy to assist you.
Everyone has their own method of studying, therefore you get out of the course what you put into it when you apply yourself. Air Conditioning/Heating is a great trade and I have been working in it for a long time, I like the work, and usually have fun on the job. If you are currently working in the trade, or will be aftr the course, it will reinforce what you learn here at Ashworth. Repetition is the best way of retaining what you learn and I always encourage my students to get involved as soon as possible.
EPA certification is very important in our trade and is a requirement for most employers. When you finish the course you will be given a 12 page study guide for the EPA 608 test and a $75 voucher. Study the guide and you should pass the test with no problem. Once you understand Air Conditioning systems and how they work, the test should be easy. When you get to chapter #13 you will find a lot of information that is on the test.
Good Luck with your studies!
