Social media is a powerful thing but so is the influence of your family and cultural beliefs. I had four friends become pregnant at least once during high school. They said in their culture they were considered "older" mothers because they hadn't had any children by fifteen or sixteen. I was shocked! We are twenty to twenty-two years old now and they have multiple children (sometimes multiple fathers). I want children but I also wanted my "fun" years of high school. It's odd because now that we are older, they want what I have and wish they had continued to be "old" before they had their first babies. It is hard to fight what is considered a norm in your culture or family. Social media making it appear glamorous and easy just further skews the perceptions of the next generation.
